my font family drop down goes back to -apple-system.  However, when I look at this post on the front end the font appears to be Georgia now that I’ve set that at all levels in the admin section.

the above line repeats twice.  The first instance is -apple-system selected in the visual editor, the second instance is Georgia selected in the visual editor.
